1991 VW T3 Syncro Conversion – The Donor

Once the shop was pretty much finished, I was able to set about putting der Thunderwagen on the lift and begin the process of stripping it. First thing I did was take photographs of how the Syncro system was setup for reference. For the few months the van sat while the shop was being constructed, I had gone out every week or so to douse as much of the hardware as I could in AeroKroil to combat my fighting with rusty fasteners. I want to believe it helped, because I only had to cut four bolts during the entire teardown process. Since I am converting my automatic to a manual, I had to do some extra work to remove all the associated manual transmission parts, too.
